Infographics have been around for a long time; even the Victorians loved them! They’ve come a long way since then, but the essence is still the same: displaying information beautifully.
Above is a time table found on Dooby Brain, showing the ‘difference in time between the principal cities of the world and also showing their airline distance from Washington.’
To the left and above are two examples of French Victorian era infographics from the David Rumsey Historical Maps Collection as featured on the Ultraspeed Blog. You can see there is a lot more writing than in contemporary infographics, but the illustrations are still beautiful today.
